New York Police shot 50 times to kill a man about to be married. Dr. Wilmer Leon analyzes the perception, logic and symbol formation linked to racism which underlies such police atrocities. Please scroll all the way down.

You think veiled Muslim women are oppressed? We have had too much of that nonsense from Hirsi Ali in Holland and Jack Straw in UK and of course the French felt threatened by the veil and the Turkish Generals won't allow it even in Parliament. Our Sis. Labeebah Sabree answers this Eurocentric propaganda in poetry. Scroll down to the end.

Editorial Notes
AIDS DAY THOUGHTS: India now has the largest numbers of AIDS victims, 5.7 million, leaving behind South Africa. [FOX NEWS Sept. 29]. Extreme poverty, complete openness to western influences and the Indian movie culture which makes women into symbols of sex have contributed to the crescendo of the AIDS epidemic. Sharia is the only force which can effectively stop AIDS. The family system cannot survive if it is 'americanized.' Fornication, adultery, drugs and homosexuality, if let loose among the most vulnerable sections of the masses are a sure fire way of undermining the family and spreading AIDS. Let us not romanticize fornication, adultery, drugs and homosexuality. Sharia is the way to go; otherwise India and South Africa show us what can happen if the Eurocentric way of life is endorsed.

In PAKISTAN, on December 1, General Musharraf crushed numerous peaceful demonstrations by Jamaate Islami and Islamic coalition MMA against a government move which removes legal deterrents on fornication, adultery and rape. Perpetrators of rape will not be punishable under Sharia Law. Islamic Law [Sharia] protects the sanctity of family life. Observers say that taking a leaf out of the book of Hosni Mubarak in Egypt, Gen. Musharraf has taken a big step to de-Islamize Pakistan.

At the Lahore Press Club, a large gathering of women from Jamaate Islami condemned Musharraf's move as a ploy to disseminate immorality and immodesty. The demonstrators chanted slogans against America and the Pakistani regime.

In TURKEY, the Pope's visit was rejected by the masses of Turkish Muslims. In Istanbul on November 26 more than 50,000 Turks made it very clear to the Pope that he was not welcome. [CNN halved the figure to 25,000.] Extremely strict security measures did not allow protestors to approach anywhere near the Pope after he arrived. [Earlier, ABC reported, police arrested 39 people.]

The Pope never apologized for his insults against the blessed Messenger of Allah, pbuh. The authorities took him to a famous mosque and showed him standing together with a Muslim "imam" but the "imam" is an appointee of the government and does not represent the Islamic sentiments of Turkey.

The Muslim world always respected the Pope but he surprised them with his unprovoked attack on Islam. Observers say that the previous Pope's recognition of Israel emboldened the Pope. Muslims say, the Pope cannot be considered honest or a friend of Muslims as long as he recognizes the illegitimate terrorist entity known as Israel.

In INDIA, on December 1, Black Indians [Dalits] carried out powerful protest demonstrations in Bombay [Mumbai] after the statue of their legendary leader Dr. Ambedkar was damaged by upper caste Hindus. In the police attempts to suppress the Dalits, 13 people were killed and dozens injured. The police arrested 1500 people and curfew was imposed in various towns of Maharashtra state.

India's Dalits are victims of institutionalized racism emanating from Hindu elites.

USA:
Why are the 4 "imams" taken off U.S. Airways getting so much sympathetic publicity on the Zionist media while the tragedy of most Muslim prisoners in America remains hidden? The mystery was finally uncovered by one of the "imams" himself when he and his friends were interviewed by CNN's pro-Zionist host Paula Zahn. Here is what this "imam" named Shahin said:

"And, if you go back to our background, I am personally the chairperson for the police advisory board. I did presentation for the FBI agent in Phoenix. I did presentation with CAIR-Arizona to Yuma Air Force Base for more than 600 Marines."

Is there any Muslim worth the name who would call this 'imam's' activities Islamic? This man is a renegade.

Reaching Out to the Muslim Community: Jamaat Shoora Resolutions & Imam Warith Deen Umar: Philadelphia

On December 1, 2006 a pamphlet listing Jamaat al-Muslimeen's Shoora resolutions issued from Milwaukee, Wisconsin was given to 175 people after Juma' salat at the 43rd street masjid behind the University of Pennsylvania.
The resolutions include a call for the RELEASE of ALL Political Prisoners being held by the U.S., including Imam Jamil al-Amin, Prof. Sami al-Arian and Ahmed 'Abdel Sattar. The Shoora resolutions also called for the withdrawal of troops from Iraq and Afghanistan and objected to the glorification of sexual immorality and other evils on TV screens.

The pamphlet included a comment from Imam Badi Ali [North Carolina], debunking the show trial of President Saddam Hussein.

Of the 175 people, 94 were also given a double-sided card hailing the endurance of Imam Warith Deen Umar [Albany, New York] under state terrorism directed at him and his family. Imam Umar was first targeted by the Zionist-Capitalist flagship newspaper the Wall Street Journal. The card has a photo of the Imam and a summary of the bogus charges brought against him.

The 43rd street masjid has a majority of people from Egypt, Somalia, Sudan, Kenya, Tanzania and other African countries. The second largest number is African-American and then a sprinkling of Indo-Pakistanis.

The Role of Women in the Islamic Movement in America: Equality and Tradition

After the Shoora meeting of Jamaat al-Muslimeen in Milwaukee, there was a session open to the public, mostly Muslims from Turkey. One issue which came up was the role of women. The question was: Jamaat al-Muslimeen gives equal importance to men and women in the movement. Would it then endorse the activities of Dr. Amina Wadud, Asra Nomani and others who want to lead prayers and sit with men?

Jamaat al-Muslimeen's position was clarified as followed:

Equality does not mean that the traditions, forms and rituals of Islam should be disrupted. Such disruption is even more condemnable when it is done at the behest of, or to please, the oppressors and agents of cultural imperialism.

'Ayesha Siddiqa, may Allah be pleased with her, the greatest Muslim woman, taught men and women and led men and women. Yet she did not disrupt or undermine the forms of Islamic worship ordained by the Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad, pbuh. Tradition connects us with the Prophet, pbuh, and the Sahaba, r.a. There is no real Islam which would insist on interpreting the Qur'an as people wish without Hadith. CHANGE MUST COME FROM WITHIN ISLAM and not be imposed from outside to please the kuffar, the munafiqeen and the tawagheet. Tradition does not mean what the Saudis do or what the Iranians teach. It must be sought in the authentic Hadith.

Seven Million in U.S. Jails, on Probation or Parole
Associated Press
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/ 20061130/ap_on_re_us/prison_population

A record seven million people — or one in every 32 American adults — were behind bars, on probation or on parole by the end of last year, according to the Justice Department. Of those, 2.2 million were in prison or jail, an increase of 2.7 percent over the previous year, according to a report released Wednesday. More than 4.1 million people were on probation and 784,208 were on parole at the end of 2005. Prison releases are increasing, but admissions are increasing more. Men still far outnumber women in prisons and jails, but the female population is growing faster.

AFGHANISTAN: Taliban Have the Initiative: Canada Killed Many Civilians

NATO's top man Van Joop has admitted that large numbers of Afghan civilians were killed in the Kandahar area during the attacks by NATO [Canadian troops]. [60 Afghan civilians were killed by NATO in one attack alone on October 26, according to FOX TV News.] He said it was regrettable but tried to justify the massacre by insisting that "we are fighting for democracy.

The situation is becoming untenable for NATO as more and more Afghans are joining the Taliban. On November 22, Germany signaledthat it would NOT be sending troops to the areas where the fighting is taking place. [Capital News.] Instead Germany is helping to train Karzai's first armored regiment. Germany has lost nearly 3 dozen troops in isolated attacks by the Taliban and thus lost the stomach for fighting.

The British army is on the defensive too. On November 25, Britain's elite troops were attacked by the Taliban. A two hour battle followed. The British refused to mention their losses and could not claim any Taliban killed. [Britain admits that 36 of its troops have been killed so far in Taliban attacks. November 20.]

On November 27, an Afghan martyrdom operator drove into a Canadian armored column and detonated, killing two Canadian troops and wounding several. [CNN.]

The U.S. appointee in Kabul, known as "karzai of Kabul" who made wild allegations on September 26 during his meeting with Bush, that the Taliban are "closing schools, burning mosques, uprooting vineyards" is calling on the Taliban to talk to him and make peace. The Taliban have responded that there can be no peace while Euro-American forces are in occupation of the country.

[New Trend researchers say that that the Taliban follow a strict code of conduct and Karzai's allegations have no basis in fact.]

IRAQ: Bush facing Defeat & Disgrace?

Shia-U.S. Alliance Becoming Apparent: Heavy Fighting Continues: Death Squads kill Scores Nightly

The reality on the ground is that 67 U.S. troops were killed fighting the [Sunni] "insurgents" during November bringing the U.S. death toll to 2887 troops and 400 plus "armed contractors" and more than 21,000 U.S. troops wounded.

The U.S.-appointed "Prime Minister" Nuri al-Maliki met CIA agent King Hussain of Jordan [Nov.29] and then President Bush. A little political footwork was carried out to create the impression that al-Maliki was offended by a leaked U.S. government memo which underlined his ineffectiveness.

Muqtada al-Sadr has strengthened his ties with Iran. He is being publicized big time by the Zionist media in the U.S. as an 'independent" Shia leader opposed to the U.S. Newsweek gave him a cover story. The U.S. will need such "independent" leaders to create the impression that its seeming withdrawal is genuine. The U.S. does not try to kill as-Sadr. By contrast, al-Zarqawi was killed along with his entire family and other civilians in an area heavily supportive of the Islamic resistance. Al-Sadr seems to be involved in the death squad activity [or the Iranian trained forces have been ignoring his authority]. Al-Sadr called on Sunnis to rebuild the Shi'ite shrine in Samarra to avoid being killed. Observers say that al-Sadr kept quiet when the U.S. was destroying Fallujah and 5 other cities along with their mosques and Islamic schools. Iran too was silent.

Iran and Syria are slowly being brought in to fulfill the U.S. "regrouping" plan. Israel is adamantly opposed to Iranian influence, but the U.S. sees Iranian and U.S. interests intersecting as opposed to the interests of the world of Islam. President Ahmedinejad has written another letter to the American people! Former Iranian leader Khatami got a free trip all over the U.S. all expenses paid by the State Department. [No Iranians are fighting the U.S. There are no Iranians in Guantanamo Bay. Syrian sectarian rulers did not fire a shot during the Israeli attempt to subdue Hizbullah. They too are working with the U.S. and King Abdullah.]

Shia death squads, working openly under U.S. military occupation, have killed thousands of innocent Sunnis in a systematic attempt to "cleanse" Baghdad of Sunnis. Col. Larry Nicholson, commander of U.S. forces in occupied Fallujah, said during a press conference [November 17] that an average of 150 Sunni refugees a day have been fleeing from Baghdad to Fallujah EVERY DAY since the attack on the Shi'ite shrine in Samarra took place. He also admitted that even now an average of 5 resistance attacks take place in Fallujah every day, although all refugees coming in there are carefully identified and tagged.

Heavy fighting continues between the Islamic resistance [Sunni] and the U.S. On November 28, an American F-16 was shot down. The area is heavily pro-resistance and the mujahideen reached the wreckage before American helicopters, and the pilot's body is missing.

The tragedy of the Iraqi masses opposed to the U.S. continues. On November 27, 5 Iraqi girls, ranging from an infant to teenagers, were killed when the U.S. bombed a home in Ramadi where an "insurgent" had been spotted.

On November 30, the [Sunni] city of Baqubah was shut down as fierce fighting broke out between U.S. forces and "insurgents."

U.S. news reports help to explain why the Iraqis were able to shoot down an F-16. It was STRAFING people on the ground, flying real low. Thus the U.S., in an illegal war and an illegal occupation, is using the latest weaponry to destroy rag tag freedom fighters who cannot be equated in weaponry even to regular modern infantry units.

A brief report on MSNBC said that more than 7,000 Islamic fighters from outside Iraq have been killed by the U.S. in Iraq since the people's resistance began three years back. Thus families of Islamic people throughout the Arab world and parts of Africa are being affected by the fighting which has led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis at the hands of the U.S. military and its Shia and Kurd-secularist support units. The Washington Post reluctantly admits that the Sunnis now see that their survival can only be assured by the fighting abilities of al-Qaidah. With Iran siding with the U.S. and the "Sunni" Hosni Mubarak-Abdullah-Abdullah triumvirate in the American camp, by default, Al-Qaidah is becoming stronger than ever before as the only force seen defending the Muslims. An Islamic state, precursor to the Caliphate, has been proclaimed in large areas of Iraq.

Focus On Their Color: Fail To See Their Humanity
by
Dr. Wilmer J. Leon III [Maryland]

According to the New York Times, on November 25, 2006, hours before he was to be married, Sean Bell was shot and killed in a hail of police bullets. Many of the details of the shooting are still unclear, but what is known is that Mr. Bell and two companions walked out of a nightclub and got into their car. Mr. Bell drove half a block, turned a corner and struck a black unmarked police minivan. Mr. Bell then backed his car up onto a sidewalk, nearly striking an undercover office before shooting forward and hitting the police van again.

When it was over, according to Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly, five officers fired a total of fifty rounds at Mr. Bell's car. Mr. Bell was struck twice and later pronounced dead. The front-seat passenger, Joseph Guzman was struck as many as eleven times and is in critical condition. Trent Benefield, the rear-seat passenger was shot three times and is in stable condition.

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said "We know that the N.Y.P.D. officers had reason to believe an altercation involving a firearm was about to happen and were trying to stop it." Ironically, no firearm was found in Mr. Bell's vehicle or on any of the victims. Once again, what the officers believed was wrong, resulting in another fatality.

Many questions still need to be answered about this latest tragedy. What led the officers to believe that these men of color would be involved with a firearm? Did the officers wait to see any evidence of a firearm? Did they announce themselves as police officers before they started shooting? Did Mr. Bell have any reason to know that he had struck a police vehicle? Also, why did the police shoot first, without seeing a gun, then ask questions later? This takes me to the continual discussion about racism (white supremacy) its perceptions, and emotional responses that we deal with all the time.

Dr. Francis Cress Welsing defines racism (white supremacy) as the local and global power system structured and maintained by persons who classify themselves as white, whether consciously or subconsciously determined; this system consists of patterns of perception, logic, symbol formation, thought, speech, action and emotional response, as conducted simultaneously in all areas of people's activity (economics, education, law, etc). Even though some of the officers involved in this incident were African American, the analysis still applies.

There is a recent history or context in which these events need to be examined.

On February 4, 1999, Amadou Diallo was shot and killed by four plain-clothes New York Police Department http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Police_Department officers. The police thought Diallo fit the description of a serial rapist http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rapist and approached him. The officers claimed that they loudly identified themselves as NYPD officers and that Diallo ran up the outside steps toward his apartment house doorway at their approach, ignoring their orders to stop and "show his hands." As he reached into his jacket, the officers fired forty-one shots at Diallo, hitting him nineteen times. The investigation found no weapons on Diallo's body; the item he had pulled out of his jacket was not a gun, but a wallet.

On January 28, 2000, a 29 year-old, off-duty, plain clothes African American police officer named Cornel Young, Jr. was shot to death in Providence, Rhode Island while coming to the aid of two fellow officers. The two fellow officers mistook officer Young as a perpetrator and shot him in the chest, head and stomach. Several witnesses said they heard him identify himself as a police officer. Other cops say he did not identify himself.

The two white officers said they did not recognize Young as a fellow officer. They failed to recognize him even though Officer Cornel Young, Jr. was the son of Major Cornel Young, Sr., the highest-ranking African American officer in their police department's history. Also, Officer Cornel Young, Jr. and one of the officers who shot him were in the same police academy class. Classes number about 25 cadets and he was not recognized.

On the evening of January 11, 2001 in Oakland, CA, Detective William Wilkins, Jr., a veteran narcotics undercover officer was shot and killed by two rookie officers in another tragic case of mistaken identity.

Detective Wilkins, dressed in plain clothes, had been working on a special operations surveillance detail for the Crime Response Team -not a unit he was normally assigned to, but working on it as a favor to other officers. He was affecting an arrest when the two officers mistook him for the perpetrator and fired 11 rounds at him. It is not clear why the two officers were not aware that there was a plainclothes detective on the scene.

I am not saying that the officers intentionally shot Mr. Sean Bell, Mr. Joseph Guzman, Mr. Trent Benefield, Detective Wilkins, Officer Cornel Young, Jr. or Mr. Amadou Diallo because of the color of their skin. The recent history and context in which these events occurred force me to ask, if the perceived perpetrators had been white, would the police officers who shot them have felt so threatened? Would the police officers patterns of perception, logic and symbol formation have been different reacting to a white suspect or threat vs. a black/hispanic suspect or threat. Would this difference in perception have resulted in a different emotional response. Would that different emotional response have given those individuals one more moment, one more instant of consideration, bringing about a different result? Perhaps resulting in their lives being spared?

Why is it that the victims of these mistaken identity shootings are disproportionately people of color? When, as Mayor Bloomberg stated, "officers had reason to believe an altercation involving a firearm was about to happen..." and the individuals are white, do the officers kill first and ask questions later? When the police arrive on the scene and find a white plain clothes officer affecting an arrest, do they kill first and ask questions later? When white plain-clothes officers arrive on the scene as back-up, do other officers shoot first and ask questions later?

Again, we are not dealing with intent, we are dealing with patterns of perception, logic, symbol formation, thought, action and emotional response, resulting in death. How many times have police officers mistaken the identity of white individuals resulting in their deaths? It's disproportionately black cops and Africans armed with wallets that are getting killed.

Get Your Lips off My Dress!
© 2006 Labeebah Sabree
I feel good of myself and worship my Lord
And really of your ignorant words I am bored
I know a jewel like me is rare
But don't stare as though I am unaware
I ask of you to be sincere and fair
Judge me not by the cover on my face or hair
There is a person under the clothes I wear
With feelings, intellect and esteem
With goals, ambitions and dreams
It is not at all what it seems
So please, get your lips off my dress
Tell me why does it cause you stress
What I wear is my business
So get your lips off my dress
Yes...... Get your lips off my dress
Don't tell me I am oppressed when I know I am not
A silly argument you've got!
Let me educate you in case you are for real
That my clothes are not out for your steal
Your fashion is not my desire
You don't dictate to me my attire
Oah...... so you want to free me
Forcing me to free me is an irony
For your eyes simply refuse to see
That I am walking the earth freely
Content with my faith and modesty
Come on now, get your lips off my dress
Tell me why does it cause you stress
What I wear is my business
So get your lips off my dress
Yes...... Get your lips off my dress
I am hiding my femininity you say
Rather, I am aware of it night and day
My body is like my home, while I have nothing to hide
I have the right to privacy and who sees what's inside
Not everyone who knocks the door enters therein
For my faith has guided me from sin
I respect my body and refuse to be used
To advertise commodity or other men amuse
Only those who I am safe with can see
This beauty that I hide within me
Natural and feminine with dignity
That's right, get your lips off my dress
Tell me why does it cause you stress
What I wear is my business
So get your lips off my dress
Yes...... Get your lips off my dress
My hijab is a barrier, next you debate
The only barrier is the one YOU create
If I was to call you on a phone
Send you a fax, email you unknown
You'd never think it creates separation
Or that it hinders our communication
So why this double standard with my veil?
I just don't wish to be exposed to a strange male
Simple as that!... so listen up Jack
If I knock on your door, don't have a heart attack
Muslim women observe veils...... respect that fact
Seriously, get your lips off my dress
Tell me why does it cause you stress
What I wear is my business
So get your lips off my dress
Yes...... Get your lips off my dress
The veil hinders our integration into "society"
How so? You see us walking and driving in the city
Going to the bank, shopping at the mall
We're nursing at the hospitals, Doctors on call
Business women, teachers, Mothers and all
Some of us are still studying at university
The wealthy help the needy and pay charity
Muslim women in harmony with community
It is just time you accept the world of diversity
Ethnocentrism robs you of so much wonder
Open your mind and allow it to ponder
Meanwhile, Get your lips off my dress
Tell me why does it cause you stress
What I wear is my business
So get your lips off my dress
Yes...... Get your lips off my dress
