PAKISTAN ARMY’S ATTACK in SOUTH WAZIRISTAN CONDEMNED BY PEOPLE’S REPRESENTATIVE

Maulana Mairajuddin Qureshi, Pakistan National Assembly representative elected from South Waziristan has condemned General Musharraf’s military operation allegedly against Al-Qaida and Taliban. Speaking to a general assembly of the notables of the area on Oct. 14 he said that the entrance of the Pakistani army in the tribal areas is a violation of Pakistan’s Constitution. The army has shelled the homes of villagers and indulged in arrests and closure of businesses, he said and added that the army has lost the respect of the people. These attacks, he said, have been carried out to please America and Bush and could lead to counterattack by the people. The army, he pointed out, was responsible for the break up of Pakistan in 1971.

NEW TREND COMMENT: General Musharraf has gone against the guarantees issued by the founder of Pakistan, MOHOMED ALI JINNAH, known as Qaide Azam, that Pakistan troops will never enter the tribal areas. Such actions were carried out by the British and resulted in heavy resistance by the Pashtuns. Musharref has taken Pakistan back to British times. The people call the general AMERICA’S DOG.
