Hadith of the Week

Narated By abu Huraira:

"Allah's Apostle used to keep silent between the Takbir and the recitation of Qur'an and that interval of silence used to be a short one. I said to the Prophet "May my parents be sacrificed for you! What do you say in the pause between Takbir and recitation?" The Prophet said, "I say, 'Allahumma, ba'id baini wa baina khatayaya kama ba'adta baina-l-mashriqi wa-l-maghrib. Allahumma, naqqim min khatayaya kama yunaqqa-ththawbu-l-abyadu mina-ddanas. Allahumma, ighsil khatayaya bil-ma'i wa-th-thalji wal-barad (O Allah! Set me apart from my sins (faults) as the East and West are set apart from each other and clean me from sins as a white garment is cleaned of dirt (after thorough washing). O Allah! Wash off my sins with water, snow and hail.)"

 Iranian leader Ayatollah Khamenei

Iran: Ganging up with the US to Destroy the Islamic State.

Iranian leader Ayatollah Khamenei sent Obama secret letter: WSJ

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has responded to overtures from U.S. President Barack Obama amid nuclear talks by sending him a secret letter, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.

Citing an Iranian diplomat, the paper said the Iranian cleric had written to Obama in recent weeks in response to a presidential letter sent in October.

Obama's letter suggested the possibility of U.S.-Iranian cooperation in fighting Islamic State if a nuclear deal was secured, the paper said, quoting the diplomat.

Khamenei's letter was "respectful" but noncommittal, it quoted the diplomat as saying.

Both the White House and the Iranian mission at the United Nations declined to comment on the report.

Khamenei said this week he could accept a compromise in the nuclear talks and gave his strongest defense yet of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani's decision to negotiate with the West, a policy opposed by powerful hardliners at home.

The nuclear talks with the United States, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany are aimed at clinching an accord that would ease Western concerns that Tehran could pursue a covert nuclear weapons program, in return for the lifting of sanctions that have ravaged the Iranian economy.

Negotiators have set a June 30 final deadline for an accord, and Western officials have said they aim to agree on the substance of such a deal by March.

Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is due to address the U.S. Congress on Iran on March 3 - to the annoyance of the Obama administration - has vowed "to foil this bad and dangerous agreement."

President Obama's Strategy for Muslims: Demonize the "bad", send in the "good."
by Kaukab Siddique, PhD

Republicans are pressing President Obama to send more troops to Iraq. ISIS too is provoking him to send in troops they can fight instead of having to fight America's proxies.

Obama is too sharp to accept Republican pressure and though provoked by ISIS is astutely refusing to send in his troops.

Obama's strategy seems to be to use Muslims against Muslims, Arabs against Arabs. In a simplified form it looks like this:

  1. He says, and keeps repeating, that Islam is a religion of peace. All of his followers pick up that message and keep repeating it. It implies that all those Muslims who are fighting America are not real Muslims because "Islam is a religion of peace."

  2. He diligently arms those rulers who want to fight the Islamic groups, such as the Pakistani generals, the kings of Saudi Arabia and Jordan, and the Shaykhs of Kuwait, UAE and Qatar, the regimes in Iraq and Lebanon, and of course General Sissi of Egypt and the democrats of Tunisia.

  3. He wants Syria's tyrant to survive, even though barely, despite the fact that Russia, Iran and Hizbullah violate international law by weekly airlift of weapons to him. In the case of Iran and Hizbullah, ground forces are involved in fighting the mujahideen. Iran has even air lifted Shias from Iraq and Afghanistan to Syria where some of them have died fighting the mujahideen.

  4. Iran is very important for USA because it can send in endless Shia reinforcements into Iraq and Syria and help to divide the Muslims of Pakistan.

  5. In DIRECT ACTION, Obama keep up the hight tech bombing of ISIS and to a lesser degree al-Nusra and the Pakistani Taliban.

  6. Also, in direct action, he keeps Israel heavily armed and funded despite a splat with Netanyahoo who works with the Republicans much to Obama's chagrin.

  7. In Kobani, Obama did more daily bombing than anywhere else though he was assisting YPG Communists. So anyone fighting the Islamic State is okay for him.

  8. The media assault on ISIS is extremely important for Obama. The Islamic State is being accused of every possible human rights violation without any evidence or restraint. This assault is similar to what was carried out against President Saddam Hussain. Muslims could see that every possible Zionist Jew was condemning Saddam but they still could not believe that Saddam was being smeared. The same is happening in the case of ISIS.

[The problem for the media is that young converts to Islam in Europe are not buying the propaganda. Perhaps they don't watch mainstream TV.]
[Jihad movements in Libya, Sinai, eastern Yemen, Afghanistan are potential supporters of ISIS and are negating American moves.]
The Republicans just don't get it.

Spotlights & Guidance

 Imam Badi Ali

Fallout from the Triple Murder of Muslim Students in Chapel Hill

  1. Live in the present moment . Be effective and reach out. Honor your faith and serve the community.

  2. Why do we give the best effort we have for our job and for earthly things. and not for our faith. Why do we sacrifice our time to do our daily work but cannot get up for fajr?

  3. Spend a few minutes thinking of the Ummah and how to improve the condition of the Ummah. Take responsibility for what you can do.

  4. The tragic three murders n Capel Hill remind me that mostly we react strongly and then forget what happened. We forget even the worst tragedy.

  5. Look at the 4 statues in Greensboro. The African American community was so deeply conscious of their struggle that they made the statues to honor their heroes. All that is left is the museum. The Black people lost both their interest and their rights. Will that happen to us.

  6. Ask yourself how the tragedy of Chapel Hill can benefit the values of our community. This should not be used for personal publicity or for the publicity of an organization . Use it for the Ummah. Help the Ummsh.

  7. If you are carrying this light, share it so that we all can improve.

  8. Most imams lack the patience and the empathy . What is wrong with this picture? Don't keep your good at home.

  9. Stop copying those who are on TV. Work with those who are righteous.

  10. Be generous. Improve your mental and physical health.

  11. Scholars should not think that they know everything. Don't brag. Don't judge.

  12. The media are in a way responsible for the murders, as is Hollywood, in particular the American Sniper movie.

  13. We need a hero who can sue Fox, the Sniper movie and others who made these murders possible.

  14. I am worried about COPYCATS owing to the atmosphere created by the media. Remember the school shootings? Once they started, they kept spreading.

  15. The leaders should know that such victimization can create conflicts for other minorities too.

Republican Invitation to Netanyahoo regardless of Israeli Genocide & Apartheid.
Hubris, Arrogance and the Violation of Separation of Powers
by Dr. Wilmer J. Leon, III

"He (the President) shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties...shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls..." Constitution of the United States, Section 2.

"...he shall receive Ambassadors and other public Ministers..." Constitution of the United States, Section 3.

There are two interesting and powerful concepts that make the Constitution of the United States unique. One is "separation of powers" and the other is "checks and balances". The United States government has three co-equal branches with defined separate powers and authorities. Each branch is provided with the ability and authority to check the powers of the other branches.

It is clearly delineated in Article II of the Constitution that the Executive Branch (President) is America's preeminent foreign policy maker as evidenced by his diplomatic, treaty powers and his role as commander-in-chief. In 1936 the Supreme Court confirmed this role by stating in United v. Curtiss-Wright, "... the president is the sole organ of the federal government in the field of international relations." It is also important to note that it is the Senate not the House of Representatives that is first in line to consult with the President on international affairs.

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) has taken it upon himself to ignore the clearly delineated powers in the Constitution and has extended an invitation to Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to address a joint session of congress on March 3. Boehner has three objectives; first, continue to humiliate the first African American President of the United States. Second, impact the ongoing negotiations between the Obama administration and Iran in the favor of Israel. Third, throw Netanyahu a lifeline two weeks before Israeli elections as his political position in Israel flounders. According to The Times of Israel, "...poll finds dramatic swerve to pessimism among young voters and the right, trends that should worry Israel's second-longest serving prime minister."

To their credit a growing number of Democrats are planning to skip Netanyahu's address. Most notable of those are President Obama, he will not meet with Netanyahu and VP Biden will be "on travel".

To date the following members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) are on record intending to boycott the address, G.K. Butterfield (D-N.C.), head of the CBC, John Lewis (D-Ga.), James Clyburn (S.C.), Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) and Gregory Meeks (N.Y.). According to The Hill Rep. Butterfield said the move marked an "unprecedented overreach of the Speaker's authority" that "goes beyond the traditions of his office." Rep. Lewis stated, "I think it's an affront to the president and the State Department what the speaker did..."

Kudos to those who are standing up and boycotting this insult to the office of the president and the overreach by Speaker Boehner but what about boycotting Netanyahu because he represents a government that is engaging in genocide and apartheid? According to Nobel Prize Laureate, The Most Reverend, Archbishop Desmond Tutu "I have witnessed the systemic humiliation of Palestinian men, women and children by members of the Israeli security forces...Their humiliation is familiar to all black South Africans who were corralled and harassed and insulted and assaulted by the security forces of the apartheid government."

Boycott Netanyahu because Israel's aggression towards Iran will become the sequel to the failed disaster film we've already seen, Iraq.

It's great that members of the CBC are boycotting Netanyahu's planned speech but what about the CBC as an organization? The CBC should stand together on the side of morality and speak with one voice in opposition to Boehner and his henchmen. According to The Hill Reps. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) and Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) say they're still on the fence while they push for a postponement.

Note to Reps. Johnson and Ellison; Tutu was correct when he said, "People who are denied their dignity and rights deserve the solidarity of their fellow human beings," Tutu said of the Palestinians. "Those who turn a blind eye to injustice perpetuate injustice. If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor." Dr. King, said "the ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy." You are still on the fence between justice and injustice choosing political comfort and convenience? Really?

I have issues with a lot of the policies that have been supported and implemented by the Obama administration but I have even bigger issues with hatred, bigotry, and oppression. I can't sit by as an African American man and allow bigots like Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) to say "you lie" or former Speaker Gingrich and Dinesh D'Souza to say, "What if (Obama) is so outside our comprehension, that only if you understand Kenyan anticolonial behavior can you begin to piece together (his actions)? Just as an aside, why shouldn't the Kenyan's and all colonial subjects oppose colonization?

One must never underestimate the blindness that attends hubris and arrogance. Hence, those like Boehner and his ilk will blindly ignore established protocol and violate the Constitution that they have sworn to protect in order to insult the first African American President and support an apartheid regime like Israel. Failing to speak out with a unified voice and for the right reasons will only lead us further down the rabbit hole of hatred, bigotry, ignorance and eventual annihilation.

Why are India's Disruptive Activities not being Stopped? JI Leader asks.

LAHORE, Feb.13: Deputy Chief of the Jamaat e Islami, Hafiz Muhammad Idrees, has said that when it was in military's knowledge that terrorism in the country was being engineered by India, why was the matter not being raised at the international level and what prevented direct and straightforward talks with New Delhi for controlling the evil. He was addressing the Friday congregation at Mansoora mosque.

Hafiz Muhammad Idrees said that the military spokesman had in categorical terms, held India responsible for terrorist all over the country including Khyber P and Balochistan. He said the nation was not unaware of the India's evil designs against this country, however, the rulers in Islamabad despite being fully aware of this, were keen for friendship with India and were ready to accept her supremacy.

He said that the Foreign Ministry should produce evidence of India's involvement in terrorism before the International Court of Justice.

The JI deputy chief appreciated the military spokesman's regarding the JIT report on the Baldia Town factory tragedy and said it had been proved beyond doubt that the factory fire was a terrorist activity of the MQM. He stressed that all those nominated in the JIT report must be proceeded against immediately lest someone else was made the scapegoat to save the real culprits.

Hafiz Muhammad Idrees said that US President Obama's phone call to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was a conspiracy to create misunderstandings between Pakistan and China before the Chinese President's visit to this country. He said that actually Washington desired that Pakistan should remain a victim of India's aggression and an obedient servant to the US.

The JI deputy chief congratulated the nation on the discovery of vast mineral wealth at Chiniot. He said that Allah Almighty did not like the faithful to beg from the infidels. However, he said, the Pakistani rulers had never tried to introduce the Islamic order in the country. On the other hand, they were still pursuing the policy of pleasing Washington at the cost of Allah's displeasure. He said the rulers had never framed policies that could benefit the general public from the natural resources. Instead, the masses had always been burdened with heavy taxes.
He said if the rulers tried to dole out this mineral wealth to their favourites as in the past, the fruit of this discovery won't reach the masses.

JI urges EC to stop use of money in Senate election

LAHORE, Feb. 13; Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Sirajul Haq, has called upon the Election Commission to explain what measures it was taking to prevent the use of money in the upcoming Senate elections. He was talking to the media after filing his nomination papers for the Senate seat in Peshawar on Friday.

Sirajul Haq said that the Senate elections had been made a trade and a game of the feudal lords, vaderas and capitalist. However, he said, it was the responsibility of the Election Commission to hold fair, free and transparent elections and to stop the use of money for purchasing votes.

Referring to the JIT report on the Baldia Town factory tragedy, Sirajul Haq said this was the report of the country's most responsible agencies that had been field before the court, and it had clearly named the MQM for the factory fire, and had mentioned that the factory owner had been asked to pay Rs. 200 million as extortion. He said that after the report, the eyes of the whole nation and the workers were at the government and the courts as the people were anxious to know if justice would be done to the families of the unfortunate victims of the tragedy.

Sirajul Haq said it was surprising that the PPP talked much of the workers' rights but the PPP government in Sindh was bargaining with the MQM for the Senate elections instead of supporting the cause of the factory workers in this case. He said that terrorism, done in any name and by any organization, racial, ethnic or sectarian, must be crushed.

Sirajul Haq said that the JI could not tolerate a system wherein a poor vendor and labourer was dealt with an iron hand for a minor lapse, but the big wigs responsible for the destruction of major state institutions like WAPDA, Steel Mills, PIA, were saluted.

The JI chief deplored that the US President Obama, the champion of human rights and democracy, and the NGOs busy in the same propaganda, had not uttered a word on the murder of three Muslims by a terrorist at their own home, in a US state.

LAHORE, Feb. 13; Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Sirajul Haq, has strongly condemned the suicide attack at the Peshawar Imambagah and said the enemies of Islam were targeting this country and wanted to shatter the national unity.

He said that the incident could be India's reaction over the statement of the military spokesman.

The JI chief expressed deep condolences with the bereaved families.

The JI Secretary General Liaqat Baloch has also condemned the suicide bombing and the huge loss of life there

Robert Gates: Destroying ISIL 'unrealistic' and 'unattainable'
By Trevor Eischen

President Barack Obama's goal to destroy the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant is "unrealistic" and "unattainable," former Defense Secretary Robert Gates says.

Appearing on NBC's "Meet the Press" Sunday, the former Pentagon chief under both Obama and President George W. Bush said U.S. forces should should not focus entirely on eradicating the terrorist group but should create an operation that contains the spread of ISIL militants and "denies them the ability to hang onto territory."

Story Continued Below
"The president has set an ambitious and, I think under current circumstances, an unrealistic goal when he talks about our intent being to destroy ISIS," Gates said. "With the means he has approved so far, I think that's an unattainable objective."

And, he said, special forces will be needed in Iraq and Syria to assist with the airstrikes that are being conducted by the U.S. and its allies.
A "re-invasion of Iraq with large ground forces is a false set of options," Gates said, but "a few hundred troops" should be stationed in the region.

  1. Murder of Three Muslim Students - Press Release
Triple Murder of three Innocent Muslim students at Chapel Hill. Atmosphere of hate created by FOX TV and glorification of the American Sniper Movie

People of conscience in North Carolina and Muslims across America are shocked by this heinous triple murder.

These students, two hijabi women and a man had done no harm to the shooter or anyone else. This was hate directed at Islam and Muslims. Muslims, especially students, are well respected and liked in North Carolina. They are people who live lawful lives, working hard, and are honest and decent in their daily lives. They care for their neighbors and people of all religions.

Muslims in North Carolina have not offended anyone and nothing like this horrible triple murder has happened before. We are glad that the shooter has been arrested and we urge that justice be not delayed.

However, it is noticeable that the atmosphere of hate has been created by FOX TV which has viewers across America. People like O'Reilly, Hannity, the Geller women, and others have been spewing hatred against Islam and Muslims almost on a daily basis. Judge Janine and numerous Fox contributors present Islam and Muslims as a threat to every American. They also defend guns.

Every effort to create an understanding of Islam is shot down by Fox in a variety of ways. Even the study of a small chapter of the Qur'an is strongly opposed by Fox which has become a hate site, certainly not a source of information and understanding.

Both Fox and CNN have been touting the American Sniper movie. The killer of 160 people is presented as a great hero. Is it at all strange that people instigated by the Geller girls and Hannity, etc. would try to be shooters and snipers right here in America, targeting innocent US Muslim students who look a little like Iraqis.

We urge our readers to become media conscious and rebut the hate and incitement which can easily turn into a triple murder.

  2. Powerful Response from Sis. K.....[name withheld].
Why do we keep Looking for Good from Kuffar? Read Allah's Guidance. We Should Expect Hostility and Hate. Don't be Fooled!

    "Asalamu Alaikum.

This was certainly a terrible event and my prayers are with the families of the three victims. The world would certainly be a better place if we did not live among evil, but we do. We can't dream or hope or expect the world to be absent of hatred between good and evil. The fact is this: Allah has nurtured belief in some but withholds it from others; and among the nonbelievers there will always be those who hate the believers and choose to make war against them...whether that be a "war" of hate-filled words or a "war" with weapons. And likewise, true believers will always have hatred for the nonbelievers (Surely the vilest of animals in Allah's sight are those who disbelieve. 8:55); and there will be appropriate times for both types of "war" against the nonbelievers as well.

We should not expect Fox News to stop "shooting down every effort to create an understanding of Islam" (Indeed, those who disbelieve - it is all the same for them whether you warn them or do not warn them - they will not believe. Allah has set a seal upon their hearts and upon their hearing, and over their vision is a veil... 2:6-7) Let Fox News hate Muslims! Why would a believer want Fox News to like them? The line between believers and nonbelievers is supposed to be bold and solid....not faded and weak.

And let Fox News continue to "defend guns"! I certainly defend my right to own a gun...as long as the evildoers have access to guns, I certainly want access to them as well! We must remember: Guns don't kill people. People kill people. Allah allows choices. If eliminating the choice between right and wrong was a good option, Allah would have done that a long time ago.

And we should never expect that Fox news or any other hostile nonbeliever will stop hating us or slandering us or wanting to eliminate us or boasting when they defeat us. That's not going to happen. As the younger generation would say "It is what it is. Deal with it". While we can certainly hope for the best, and we can hope that everyone suddenly chooses belief in God, and we can hope that Fox viewers are not weak enough to believe lies, and we can hope that all nonbelievers are mild mannered instead of hostile towards believers, and we can certainly do our part to plant seeds of peace and understanding; but we fail to fully believe and trust in Allah and what He has told us if we don't prepare to deal with the hatred and hostility that instinctively exists between good and evil. Our belief should lead us to stop trying so hard to eliminate the hostility and learn to deal with these hostile "wars" (of words and of weapons) according to the Laws of Islam; and sadly that means preparing the hearts and minds of believers to expect casualties."

  3. Both Imam Badi and Sis. K ..... are Right. Look at historic precedent from 1972.
by Sis. Aisha [New York city.]

I like Sis. K's response and Imam Badi 'Ali's to the horrific murders in North Carolina. I think it is important that Imam Badi pointed out the reason for such a climate. Of course, the government is to blame as well, having equated Islam to terror and the criminalization of Muslims visiting other Muslim countries or sending aid to these places!

However, I have always felt that the Muslim community in America needed strengthening. From my experience, unfortunately, these bootlicking Imams foster distrust among the jamma'at during jummah. They talk about spies in the mosque and how the boogey man is out to get us. They sound like typical scared Hollywood banjo-eyed stereotypes of a 'fraidy cat! This is why what Sis. K said about us learning how to live in this hostile environment is important, too.
This is not the first time Muslims have been targeted by society....but, we can always fight back with Allah's help. A sore spot for many NYPD officers is an incident that occurred at the 116th Street Lenox Ave Harlem mosque now, known as Masjid Malcolm Shabazz. On April 14, 1972, five police officers stormed the mosque with guns, which is illegal in America to do. Law enforcement cannot bring guns into a place of worship nor charge into it. If a suspected criminal is inside then, the police will wait him/her out! The story is that someone placed a fake 911 call about a Detective needing assistance in the mosque.

Fake calls to stir up drama between mosques and the community have happened before and after 9/11/2001!
However, during this incident, a rookie cop, Phillip Cardillo, charged into the building and upstairs to the musallah [prayer area.]. However, neither he nor the additional armed officers arriving on the scene made it that far because the Muslim brothers worked fearlessly to secure their mosque and protect the sisters. Some how Officer Cardillo wound up shot to death by his own gun. Ballistics never concluded if it was his gun or someone else's. The officers were forced outside of the mosque. However, some of the officers identified Louis 17X (Dupree) as being the man standing over a dying Cardillo with the gun in his hand.

Minister Louis Farrakhan and, surprisingly, Congressman Rangel threatened a riot if Louis 17X Dupree was not released. He, along with 12 other men, was released. But, Dupree was, eventually, charged with Officer Cardillo's murder. In spite of an informant's testimony, Dupree's trial ended in a hung jury. During the second trial, Dupree was acquitted with his lawyer arguing that either Officer Cardillo shot himself or was shot by another officer.

Fighting to defend yourself and family is a right Allah gives His believers! This is a different time. The enemy has sophisticated weaponry but, Allah's message is still the same: Fear Me Alone! It is not easy but, it is something worth working on. Sometimes, Allah gives us strength in times of need even when we don't think we have it. Be prepared, but not paranoid.

  4. President Obama Should Take Some Responsibility.
by Shamim Siddiqi [Long Island, New York]

    SALAAM,

It is a very sad and tragic incident - the dire consequence of the State's hate campaign against Islam and Muslim States. Our President Obama should take some responsibility for this sad consequence of his frequent anti-Islam hate speeches.

May Allah bless their soul and give them all, Jannatul Firdaus and SABR and Sakina to their dear ones..

I humbly request our Muslim Leadership to appeal the Muslim community to remain calm and unagitated with SABR and pray to God for the Maghfirah of the departed souls ..

Justice in America Moves Slowly: Pedophiles when Jewish like Woody Allen can get away. Do Women have rights against the Rich and the Famous?
by Sis. Aisha [Jamaat al-Muslimeen]

New York City - On 2/10/2015, a Brooklyn NY grand jury handed down an indictment to charge a New York City police officer in the shooting death of Akai Gurley, an unarmed man whose only crime was to take the stairs to exit a building. Rookie cop Peter Liang was indicted on second-degree manslaughter charges for shooting Gurley. The indictment is one that has not been handed down in a very, very long time in New York City and may be that is due to a few factors:

A new Black district attorney who is still not familiar with the "rules", yet.

The grand jury convened on February 4th and a decision to indict was announced on February 10th. This is how a grand jury investigation is supposed to be handled. An investigation does not take months and should not be conducted as a criminal trial would but, with the shooting victim being cast as a defendant. Only time will tell what will happen in this case.

I still do not trust this Brooklyn DA Kenneth Thompson because he made his ambitions known while "defending" Dominique Strauss Kahn's rape victim. Politics is a very corrupt game tat all Muslims are forbidden to play! When the rape indictment came against Dominique Strauss Kahn, Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance illegally decided against trying him and got the indictment thrown out. Just imagine how difficult it would be for Brooklyn DA Thompson if he went after Cyrus Vance, who is now a fellow prosecutor, and his own boss, the NY State Attorney General, for not following protocol! These type of attacks could only come from people who are on the outside of politics.

Prince said before handing out the Grammy. "Albums still matter. Albums, like books and black lives, still matter." while presenting the award for Album of the Year during the Grammy's live broadcast. Jewish/Rapist Sportscaster Allowed to Celebrate Milestone

Long time sports broadcaster and convicted rapist Marv Albert will have celebrated a milestone in sports at this Sunday's NBA All Star game (2/15/2015). It will be his 20th NBA All Star game broadcast.

Albert plead guilty to assault and battery of a female friend in a hotel room, in 1997. Albert was originally charged with forcible sodomy. He claimed to have taken the plea deal to protect his family from hearing about his strange sexual proclivities. He served 10 months and true to their word, NBC dismissed him and he resigned from broadcasting NY Knicks games. However, in spite of being charged with rape, NBC had allowed Marv Albert to continue broadcasting games until his guilty plea. Shortly after his release, Albert was retained by TNT Sports (A Turner Broadcasting channel), to broadcast NBA games. He is celebrated by colleagues and fans alike as if nothing happened.

From convicted rapists like Roman Polanski, accused pedophiles like Woody Allen, and others, it is proof that Hollywood Jewry support each other and form strong alliances without any shame or remorse. Zionism affords them that "right" in the good old USA.

Bosnian Woman Arrested for Helping IS Raises Fist in US Court

February 9: The US government brought to court six Bosnian Muslims living in Illinois. They were arrested for sending supplies of various kinds to Islamic groups including the Islamic State [IS]

They face long prison terms but were quite defiant in court.

"Mediha Medy Salkicevic, 34 and one of six Bosnian immigrants charged Friday, raised her fist and smiled at relatives as she appeared at the bond hearing in Chicago. Standing in orange jail clothes and with her hair covered, she also signaled for them to keep their chins up." [AP]

Sectarian attack on Hadith to make the Claim that Umar, r.a., disobeyed the Prophet, pbuh, to deny Ali, r.a., his right.

[Shias have become very aggressive in attacking mainstream Islam, Out of politeness, most Muslims do not respond to Shia attacks. Muslims in the West particularly do not have the scholarly resources to answer trained Shia agitators.

The Shias are trying to twist authentic hadith to give them the meaning which would undermine basic Islamic teaching.
  1. The Shias try to claim that the Prophet, pbuh, in this hadith wanted to appoint Ali, r.a., as his successor.

  2. The Shias want to claim that Ali, r.a., and Umar, r.a., were not friends and that Umar, r.a.,wanted to stop Ali, r.a. from being ordained as the successor to the prophet, pbuh.

  3. The Shias want to convey the sense, indirectly, that the Prophet, pbuh, was so weak that he was overawed by Umar, r.a.

The shias have carried out attacks on this hadith for so long, and on so many groups of the Internet, that it is time that they be answered in English. Here we have a distinguished scholar of Pakistan answering the Shi'ite allegations, step by step. We thank Mustansir Zaman for the translation. These allegations were also answered by Maulana Maudoodi, long ago, but we could not get an English translation. -- editor New Trend.

The Hadith of the Pen and Paper and the Allegations of the Shi'ah

Translator's Preface

The belief of the Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah in respect to the noble companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has been clearly outlined by Ibn 'Abd al-Barr (d. 463 AH) as follows:

They are the best of generations, and the best of nations taken out for the benefit of mankind. Their uprightness is established by the praise of Allah and His Messenger. No one can be more upright than those whom Allah selected for the companionship and assistance of His Messenger. This is the greatest form of approval and the most complete form of accreditation.

The Sahabah have undoubtedly secured a lofty rank in the court of Allah, which is described in the following verse:

And the first forerunners [in the faith] among the Muhajirun and the Ansar and those who followed them with good conduct, Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him, and He has prepared for them gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever. That is the great attainment.

Accordingly, to disparage or slander any of the Sahabah, let alone the high ranking among them, is unacceptable and highly detested.

The following is a response by Mufti Taqi 'Uthmani to allegations leveled by the Shi'ah against our leader 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (Allah be pleased with him) regarding the Hadith of the Pen and Paper. To make the article more reader friendly, an idiomatic translation was adopted in many places.

Hadith

'Abd Allah ibn 'Abbas mentions:

When the demise of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) drew near, there were people in his house, among whom was 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet said, "Come, I will write a document for you, after which you will not go astray. Thereupon Umar said, "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is deeply afflicted with pain. You have the Qur'an with you; the Book of Allah is sufficient for us." Those who were present in the house differed: some of them said, "Bring (what the Prophet requested) so that he may write a document for you, after which you will never go astray," whilst some supported the view of 'Umar. When they caused a hue and cry in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he said, "Go away."

'Ubayd Allah said, "Ibn Abbas (Allah be pleased with him) used to say, 'A great loss, indeed a great loss, that the Prophet was unable to write a document for them due to their dispute and noise.

Commentary

The Rafidah Shi'ah have employed this hadith as a pretext to disparage the Sahabah (Allah be pleased with them all), in particular our leader 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (Allah be pleased with him) from the following angles:

'Umar and those who agreed with him disobeyed the instruction of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) by refusing him an inkwell and paper when he requested.

They deprived the Ummah of their right, because the information which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was going to write contained what would preserve them from deviance. Not writing this information led to innumerable differences between countless groups of Muslims, which was due to the person who prevented him.

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to appoint 'Ali as the khalifah, due to which 'Umar interfered and prevented him from doing so, as it would result in the family of the Prophet taking over the khilafah.

'Umar accused the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) of insanity by saying, "Is the Messenger of Allah delirious?" even though he was free from insanity, delirium, and other such disorders.

Answering the first allegation

Firstly, we will provide a brief and rhetorical answer for the first and second allegation, after which we will present a detailed and academic answer:

Brief answer:

If not bringing an inkwell and paper in such a situation will be regarded as a sin (we seek Allah's protection), then 'Umar was not alone in this. Rather, all those present in the house at that time were also involved; hence, all would be equally guilty.

In particular, our leader 'Ali would also be guilty because he did exactly what 'Umar did. Imam Ahmad narrates on the authority of 'Ali ibn Abi Talib:

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed me to bring him paper, so that he may write that by which his Ummah will not deviate after him." He said, "I feared that he will pass away, so I told him, "I will (rather) memorize and retain it." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "I advice you regarding Salah, Zakah, and that which your right hands possess."[4]

Undoubtedly, this narration uproots all the objections of the Shi'ah, as it is explicit in that there was no difference in that situation between the approach of 'Umar and 'Ali (Allah be pleased with them). If the above-mentioned incident is the same as the one under discussion, then they both prevented the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) from writing in consideration of his condition. It was for this reason 'Umar said, "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is deeply afflicted with pain" and 'Ali said, "I feared that he would pass away." If the above-mentioned incident is other than that being discussed, the same objections posed by the Shi'ah against 'Umar will be directed to 'Ali in the narration recorded in the Musnad of Ahmad. Whatever answer they will provide on behalf of 'Ali will be equally applicable in defense of 'Umar.

Furthermore, this narration shows that the bequest of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) at that time had no connection with the issue of khilafah; rather, it was to emphasize the importance of Salah, Zakah, and the rights of slaves etc.

Detailed answer to the first objection:

'Umar and those who agreed with him did not go against the instruction of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) out of stubbornness. Rather, they felt it inappropriate to exhaust the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in such a critical state. Ibn 'Abbas explicitly mentions in the beginning of the hadith that the Prophet's illness worsened on that day and that his companions and family only gathered to visit and tend to him. When a person intends to do something during his illness, how often does his family not prevent him for fear of his illness worsening? No one will regard this treatment as disobedience; on the contrary, it is praise-worthy in such a situation, because it is a sign of their care and attempt to prevent him from exhausting himself.

'Umar only did what he did because he was laboring under the impression that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) will not pass away until he puts an end to the hypocrites and elevates the Word of Allah above the Persians and Romans. Thus, he assumed that if the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) refrained from writing in this critical state, he could carry it out when his health improved. According to his assumption, even if the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) never wrote anything, this Ummah would not be deprived. This is supported by the following narration of Ibn Sa'd in his al-Tabaqat via the route of al-Waqidi, from Ibn 'Abbas:

During his final illness, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon) said, "Bring an inkwell and paper that I may write for you a document, after which you will never deviate." Thereupon, 'Umar remarked, "Who will deal with those cities of Rome? Surely, the Messenger of Allah will not pass away until we conquer them."

It is established in numerous reports that 'Umar was not willing accept the death of the Prophet. Thus, he said, "The Messenger of Allah will never pass away until he puts an end to the hypocrites" as narrated by Ibn Sa'd in his al-Tabaqat.[6] On the following day, he said, "I desired that the Prophet would outlive us." Narrated by al-Bukhari in (the chapter of) al-Ahkam.

This shows that it never crossed 'Umar's mind that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) will pass away during that specific illness, and that he believed that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) will recover and live until he puts an end to the hypocrites and overcomes the Persians and the Romans, until he is the last to pass away in his era. From another angle, he believed that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would not abandon anything he was instructed to convey to the Ummah. If there was anything he intended to bequest, he could have done so after his health improved. There was no need to hasten in such a dire situation wherein it was feared that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) could weary himself. Therefore, he stated, as it is recorded in the narration under discussion, "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah is afflicted with intense pain, and the Qur'an is in your possession; the Book of Allah is sufficient for us."

How often did our leader 'Umar not express opinions in the presence of the Prophet, to which he concurred? Likewise, this was an opinion he voiced. Had he erred in his judgment, the Prophet would not approve. Since the Prophet never objected, it is evident that 'Umar did not do it out of stubbornness.

Even if we hypothetically assume that his opinion was incorrect, it was based on judgment (ijtihad), in which he was not alone. All those present in the house were also involved by not bringing the inkwell or paper, as 'Umar never physically restrained anyone; he only held an opinion which he expressed. Since no one carried out the instruction, it is clear that it was not mandatory according to all those present in the house; otherwise, those who felt it was mandatory would have carried it out in spite of what the others felt.

While discussing the criticisms of the Rawafid leveled against our leader 'Umar, Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah has presented an excellent answer:

Even if a particular issue was unclear to 'Umar and afterwards it became clear, or he doubted some issues, it is not as severe as the one who exercises ijtihad and passes a verdict wherein the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed a contrary verdict which he (the former) was unaware of. This is because uncertainty regarding the truth is lighter than conviction upon error.

These are based on legitimate judgment. At most, it will regarded as an oversight which Allah has pardoned, just as 'Ali (Allah be pleased with him) ruled that the pregnant widow whose husband died should observe 'iddah for the lengthier of the two periods. This was in spite of what has been recorded in authentic narrations that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was informed that Abu al-Sanabil ibn Ba'kak passed a similar verdict for Subay'ah al-Aslamiyyah, he said, "Abu al-Sanabil has erred. Your 'iddah is complete, so marry whoever you wish."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) declared that the person who passed this ruling erred. Abu al-Sanabil was not qualified to exercise ijtihad nor was he suited to pass a ruling in the presence of the Prophet. As for 'Ali and Ibn 'Abbas, even though they passed a similar verdict, it was based on ijtihad and was after the demise of the Prophet, and the incident of Subay'ah did not reach them. Similar is the case of all those Companions who are qualified to exercise ijtihad: when they exercise ijtihad, pass a verdict, and give a ruling wherein the Sunnah is contrary to that and the Sunnah has not reached them, they will be correct in their ijtihad.[7]

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) never rebuked or punished anyone who prevented him from writing, save his statement, "Go away" even though during his final illness he rebuked his family for treating him with al-ladud (medical drops) under the assumption that he suffered from pleurisy (dhat al-janb). When he was informed what had occurred, he did not suffice on rebuking them, but he also instructed everyone except 'Abbas to take al-ladud. If not writing at that time was wrong, the Prophet would have rebuked them.

Answering the second allegation

What the Messenger of Allah (Peace and blessings be upon him) was going to write could only be one of the following:

Something that was necessary for him to convey, the ignorance of which will be a definite cause of deviance.

Something that emphasizes a matter he already conveyed, which he intended to write so that the effect may remain longer.

If it was from the first category, then it is not possible for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to abandon the propagation of something he was instructed to convey due to opposition. It is known that he would covey what he was ordered to convey even if it cost him his life, wealth, and hometown. How could he abandon the explanation of a matter the absence of which will lead to the deviance of the Ummah, merely because some of his companions prevented him from doing so?

Towards the end of his book, Dala'il al-Nubuwwah, al-Bayhaqi writes:

If he intended to write what the Ummah was in need of, he would not have abandoned it due to their differences or due any other reason for that matter, because of the verse of the Qur'an, "Convey what has been revealed to you." Just as he never abandoned the propagation of other matters due to the opposition or animosity of his enemies.

Furthermore, the Prophet lived for approximately four days after this incident. The incident occurred on a Thursday, and he passed away on a Tuesday. Therefore, if what he wanted to bequest was necessary, he would have done so in these days when it is proven that he issued several injunctions in these days. It is proven through numerous narrations that during this period his health improved. Therefore, if the bequest was concerning a matter that the Ummah was in need of, he would not have abandoned it.

If it was from the second category, the bequest would not have been any new information that he was to convey to the Ummah; it would only be an explanation of what he already conveyed. Therefore, there is no reason to criticize those who were against the idea of writing in view of the severity of his illness, because in reality they have not deprived this Ummah.

It is evident from the above, that what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) intended was either a mere emphasis of what he already explained and thus he abandoned it sufficing on the previous explanation, or it was an issue not necessary for him to convey but he intended to do so out of compassion for the Ummah. Thereafter, it became evident to him by judgment or revelation from Allah that it is preferable to abandon it.

Answering the third allegation

The third allegation is merely a claim that cannot be substantiated. From where have they received knowledge that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to write concerning the khilafah of 'Ali? If this is what he intended, no human nor jinn could have prevented him. How could he refrain from expressing the truth merely because of our master 'Umar's opposition? Did he fear 'Umar? We seek Allah's protection. He never feared 'Umar ibn al-Khattab, whereas no one was stronger and braver than him during his period of disbelief. Therefore, how could he fear him after accepting Islam?

Do these critics not realize that their criticism is not only directed to 'Umar; rather, it is an objection to the propagation, message, bravery, and zeal of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). It is in this manner that enmity blinds the sight of men, and fanaticism impairs ones understanding.

If the intent of the writing was to appoint a khalifah, it would definitely be Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (Allah be pleased with him), because he was appointed by the Prophet for hajj, to lead the prayers during his final illness, which was a clear indication of appointment for the greater leadership (i.e. khilafah). It was for this reason that 'Ali said, "When the Prophet passed away, I pondered and thus it was apparent to me that Salah is the hallmark of Islam and foundation of din. Therefore, We were pleased to hand (the affairs of) our world to the person whom the Prophet was pleased with (the affairs) our religion, so we pledged allegiance to Abu Bakr."

In Gharib al-Hadith, Ibn Qutaybah narrated via the route of al-Rabi' ibn Nafi' al-Halabi, from Ibrahim ibn Yahya al-Madini, from Salih Mawla al-Taw'amah that 'Ali (Allah be pleased with him) said, "By Allah, Abu Bakr accepted Islam while I was still young; I can speak but it will not be heard, so how can I be more suitable for Abu Bakr's position?"

It is reported on the authority of Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib that he said, "'Ali ibn Abi Talib came and pledged allegiance to Abu Bakr. He then heard the statement of the Ansar, so he said, "Which one of you will put back the person who the Prophet put forward?" 'Ali al-Muttaqi mentioned this in Kanz al-'Ummal in the chapter of khilafah, and gave reference to al-'Ushari, al-Lalaka'

It is proven from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon) that he told 'Aishah (Allah be pleased with her), "I intended to send a message to Abu Bakr and his son that I assign (i.e. the former) lest some people make claims or some people aspire. Thereafter, I said, "Allah will not allow otherwise and the believers will prevent it from being otherwise, or (she said) the believers will not allow otherwise and Allah will prevent it from being otherwise." Narrated by al-Bukhari in the chapter of al-Marda and al-Ahkam.

Why is it not possible that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon) intended to write about the khilafah of our master 'Abu Bakr, after which it became apparent that leaving it as a matter of consultation between the Muslims would be better, as he knew that the believers would not allow other than Abu Bakr?

It is also established in some books of the Shi'ah that our master 'Ali ibn Abi Talib acknowledged that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon) never assigned him anything, and only took a promise from him to pledge allegiance to Abu Bakr. It is mentioned in Nahj al-Balagah that he said:

We are pleased with Allah's decree, and we have submitted His affair to Him. Do you think I will lie against the Prophet? By Allah, I was the first to believe in him, so I will not be the first to lie against him. Thus, I pondered over my affair, and it became apparent that my obedience superseded my allegiance, and the promise around my neck is for someone else."

It is clear that he was referring to his allegiance to Abu Bakr, and that he pledged allegiance to Abu Bakr and fulfilled a promise with which the Prophet apparently entrusted him. Allah Most High knows best.

Answering the fourth allegation

As for the fourth allegation i.e. 'Umar ibn al-Khattab accused the Messenger of Allah of insanity by saying, "Is the Messenger of Allah delirious?" I have not come across a single authentic narration that supports the claim that the one who uttered these words was our master 'Umar ibn al-Khattab. Ibn 'Abbas only stated that the Companions differed; some said, "Is the Messenger of Allah delirious?" without any specific reference to 'Umar as the one who uttered these words. Accordingly, these words will have one of the following interpretations:

Among the interpretations is what 'Allamah 'Abd al-'Aziz al-Dihlawi states in his work in Persian known as "al-Tuhfah al-Ithna 'Ashariyyah": these words were uttered by those who felt the Messenger of Allah should write for them a document. Their question was rhetorical, i.e. it is necessary for us to carry out the instruction of the Prophet, for he (peace and blessings be upon him) does not utter senseless speech, and he is serious in his instruction to write. It was as if they told 'Umar and those who agreed with him, "According to you, is the Prophet delirious, because of which you refuse to comply to his order? The intent is that he is not delirious, but rather he is serious in his instruction. Accordingly, there is no objection against anyone, because no one accused the Messenger of Allah of nonsensical speech; it was merely a rhetorical question.

Among the interpretations is that it was the statement of 'Umar or the statement of someone who agreed with him, inquiring whether his instruction was deliberate or it was due to the severity of illness just as sick people often utter speech that is not taken serious. They only inquired because illness does not prevent the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). During that time, he was severely ill. It is not possible for us to conceive the extent of agitation the Companions were going through at the time. The most important matter in the sight of the Companions was the Prophet's recovery and that nothing worsens his illness.

From another angle, they were certain that he (peace and blessings be upon) was not deficient in conveying the message and passing the trust.

From a third angle, they knew that the Prophet disliked writing anything besides the Qur'an except in dire need so that nothing gets confused for the Qur'an. In such a situation, one of them assumed that his instruction during such a severe illness was not definite and thus they inquired whether his instruction was a definite matter or a dismissive statement. It was not regarded as the slightest amount of ill conduct; rather, it was only a natural agitation the Companions were suffering from in that extreme situation.

Among the interpretations is that the word "hajara" in this statement is in the meaning of "departing" and not in the meaning of "delirium." Linguists have expressly mentioned that the verb, "hajara yahjuru" is also used for "abandonment" and "departing."[14] Accordingly, the meaning would be: they inquired, "Will the Messenger of Allah depart from us, because of which he is instructing us to write his bequest? This is supported by the answer we provided for the second allegation, i.e. 'Umar was laboring under the impression that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) will not pass away until he puts an end to the hypocrites and elevates Islam above the Persians and the Romans.

Therefore, if 'Umar or any other Companion wanted to ask him, "Has the time come for him to depart?" there would be no objection against any of them, because this statement was uttered out of extreme love for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and displeasure of separating from him.

Thus, all of their objections have been answered. All praise is for Allah.

However, al-Hafiz (Ibn Hajar) mentions a portion of this narration in Fath al-Bari (vol.1, p.186) without criticizing it, which shows that it is acceptable according to him. Comment by Kaukab Siddique: According to the Qur'an, the Prophet, pbuh, could neither read nor write. He was the unlettered prophet, nabi' al-Ummi:

'Say (O Muhammad): O mankind! Lo! I am the messenger of Allah to you all - (the messenger of) Him unto Whom belongeth the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth. There is no Allah save Him. He quickeneth and He giveth death. So believe in Allah and His messenger, the Prophet who can neither read nor write, who believeth in Allah and in His Words, and follow him that haply ye may be led aright." [Sura al-Aaraf: 158]

So Umar, r.a., was right, Alhamdulillah.
